Tailor Made Holidays to Cape Town

Ah, Cape Town. South Africa’s headline act certainly won’t leave you wanting for much. A city that welcomes all, it’s not just its famed hotspots that tempt travellers from far and wide. Tourist traps like Table Mountain and Robben Island aside, this cosmopolitan city offers a way of life that will have you – quite seriously – looking into emigrating. Think farmers markets galore, wine almost as cheap as water (we’re talking world-class) and Boulders Beach, a spot populated by more penguins than people – this isn’t your average city.

The natural beauty of Cape Town’s impressive peninsula setting is offset by its inner-city cool. Taking ownership of a broad cultural spectrum, this city offers everything from hip bars and artisan coffee houses to a unique jazz scene and art galleries aplenty. Not to mention a poignant history that the city is still very much aware of today. Spend a day strolling the Museum Mile, or soaking in the history of District Six, before heading to lively Long Street to let your hair down for the night.

From urban edge to laid back beaches, it’s rare that a city can balance the two so well. The Four Clifton’s offer dreamy white sands for volleyball fanatics, surfer dudes and sun worshipers alike. Or, for a quieter swimming spot, make Beta Beach your go to.

And then there’s the shopping. If Table Mountain National Park is Cape Town’s undulating backdrop, then every discerning travellers favourite hangout – the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront – has to be its coastal poster child. From chic designer favourites to local boutiques, this is a shopper’s paradise. And, for those who think that they would rather sit this one out, the short answer is: don’t. If ever there was a place to watch the world go by, the V&A Waterfront is it.

When it comes to food, biltong and boerewors may be the done thing in this part of the world, but in Cape Town vegans can breathe a swift sigh of relief as the meat-free options are countless. As for seafood lovers, the bar is set high here – fresh tuna steak enjoyed alfresco along the coast is what holiday dining is all about.

Cape Town will be the core of your trip to South Africa. So, whether you choose the Classic or Garden Route tours as your base itinerary, you’ll get a minimum of four nights here to explore all that this incredible city has to offer.

Experiences & Attractions in Cape Town

As far as most visitors are concerned, Table Mountain and Cape Town are one and the same thing – so what better place to start with? A natural landmark that has long graced the cover of postcards. Why not satisfy your senses with some traditional Cape Malay cooking in Bo Kaap, full of cobbled streets and colourful houses. And just outside of the new-generation hub of Cape Town’s wealthier centre, the reality of life for those still living in Townships is never far away. With at least four days to take in the city, you will have plenty of time to explore the rest of the peninsula that it sits on.

Camps Bay

Backdropped by the impressive 12 Apostles mountain formation and hugged by the surging Atlantic Ocean, its sands are a favourite amongst Cape Town’s locals – as well as being regularly voted as one of the world’s best. Oh yes, this is a city that knows how to please its sun-worshipers.
