Two weeks in South Africa
Nowhere has it all like South Africa; and two weeks in a country full of encaptivating adventures, South Africa is an unforgettable mix of contrasting experiences - dramatic coastal scenery, gastronomic delights and great wines and exciting game drive safaris. It’s one of the world’s most beautiful and diverse destinations. If South Africa has long been on your bucket list of destinations, then read on as we share our favourite two-week South Africa itinerary combinations that you can book with Meraki.
Planning 2 weeks in South Africa can be overwhelming, so we have created two South Africa trip itineraries to get you started - Cape to Kruger and Garden Route.
From west to east, start your holiday with 5 nights in Cape Town, an amazing must-see city that combines vibrant city life with incredible hikes and relaxing beaches. Use your included 2-day hop-on hop-off sightseeing bus pass to explore Cape Town’s famous landmarks including Table Mountain, Camp’s Bay and the chic V&A Waterfront, a popular spot for bars and restaurants overlooking the harbour and Robben Island. Your holiday continues with 3 nights wildlife spotting in Kruger National Park. During your stay here, you’ll join two daily game activities with an expert guide. The wildlife is spectacular, with the Big Five (lion, elephant, rhino, leopard and buffalo) all present amongst the herds, packs and flocks of African wildlife that live in the bush.
A road trip to remember. Starting again in Cape Town, make your way along one of the most beautiful scenic coastal drives in the world. Your first stop along the famed Garden Route is an overnight stay in Oudtshoorn. Known as the ostrich capital and home to the Cango Caves, take in the views as you drive up to the summit of the stunning Swartberg Mountains at sunset. Continue along the coastline to Plettenberg Bay where you’ll stay for 2 nights. This stunning seaside town has everything you need for a beach-basking stay with some of the most beautiful beaches and national parks in South Africa.
So you’ve covered the highlights with time to spare; now’s the fun part; tailoring your own 2 weeks in South Africa. We’ve hand-picked the best locations and experiences in and around South Africa and made them available to add to your Cape to Kruger or Garden Route holiday. These include the option to stop in Stellenbosch or Franschhoek, add a safari in the Eastern Cape or add in a flight to Victoria Falls or Mauritius.
This itinerary is the perfect highlights reel of Southern Africa. If you want the biggest and the best things to see, this 13 day trip is the one for you.
Victoria Falls follows Cape Town and Kruger with a stop in Johannesburg before flying to “the smoke that thunders”. Straddling Zimbabwe and Zambia the world’s largest waterfall doesn’t disappoint. One of the seven wonders of the world, the stop here includes our Cascades, Cafes & Canapes tour. For the most incredible views, opt for our aptly named ‘once in a lifetime’ experience - The Flight of Angels helicopter tour. Or add our unique ‘food & wine’ experience and dine on the Bushtracks Express for a gourmet five course dinner as the sun sets over the falls.
Looking for luxury? After Cape Town and Kruger, finish your holiday with a night in Johannesburg and 5 nights relaxing by the crystal blue waters, sugar white sands and spectacular lagoons of Mauritius.
Stellenbosch is the perfect addition to our Cape To Kruger holiday if you want to sample world-class wines and top eats in a picture-perfect colonial town set in the most gorgeous winelands. Also a bustling student hub and fringed with golf courses, you’ll find plenty here to keep you entertained for 3 nights. Dining is full of regional delicacies and if you want to add an extra culinary element, the Dine and Vine Hopper is our ‘food & wine’ experience not to be missed. Starting with a walking food tour in the morning, the day continues with the vine hopper tour in the afternoon where you visit and taste some of the region’s finest wines.
Another great option for wine enthusiasts is adding Franschhoek to your Garden Route holiday, just an hour’s drive away from Cape Town and home to over 40 wine estates. This is the place to wine and dine in some of South Africa’s top restaurants - from cosy cafes and stylish bistros to Michelin starred restaurants. Add our Hop On Hop Off Wine Tram ‘food & wine’ experience for a fun addition to enjoy the beautiful scenery (and of course wines!). Alternatively, pedal through charming vineyards on our ‘active’ bikes & wines experience.
And we highly recommend adding 3 nights Eastern Cape to the end of your Garden Route road trip; home to the dramatic slopes of Drakensberg peaks, world-class hiking trails and of course incredible safari. Nothing quite matches the thrill of seeing lion cubs playfully clambering upon one another in the long grass, or an elephant herd stopping to appease their thirst at a watering hole. During your stay here you’ll have two game drive opportunities each day to travel into the wilderness with an experienced guide and observe animals in their natural habitat. The park offers stunning views of the river valleys, acacia forests and savannah grasslands – an unforgettable way to complete your 2-week South Africa holiday!
We make holiday planning fun and easy, with optional international flights, included transfers, a number of experiences and all accommodation. But if you want to create and tailor an unforgettable 2-week South Africa holiday, then this is where things get exciting. Add the extra experiences that match your interests and select your accommodation based on style and budget – from our classic hotels to premium properties, boutique hotels and luxury lodges.
So, countless unforgettable 2-week South Africa holiday options. The decision is which one will you pick?
