Capital Spirits Baijiu Bar
If you’re looking to try something authentic during your time in Beijing, you’re in the right place. Having recently relocated to a more stylish version of its old venue, Capital Spirits, the first Baijiu themed bar in the world, offers its customers, yep you guessed it, a whole lotta’ Baijiu. In case you weren’t already aware, Baijiu is China’s national drink which, we’ll admit, has a rather unusual flavour - but we’ll let you figure that one out for yourself. During your time here you’ll be able to try over 50 different variations of the drink and if you’re feeling extra adventurous, you can opt to try it with various infusions including Sichuan pepper, cinnamon and snake, yes snake. Whether you love or hate the local drink (marmite vibes), taking a trip out to this bar will be a truly memorable experience. Especially if you have the snake infused drink. You’ll never forget that snake.
Migas Mercado is seriously up there as one of the best bars in Beijing and seems to come up time and time again as a recommendation. This spanish influenced restaurant and cocktail bar is located high up in China World Mall meaning it towers over the rest of Beijing’s skyscrapers leaving for an incredible urban vista. The bar itself offers both indoor and outdoor seating but the cosy and classy rooftop terrace is the one you’ll be coming here for and trust us, it’s the kind of place you can just sit and chill for hours. Think delicious cocktails, live music, incredible views and cosy sofas. Oh, and if you’re looking for some quality food, you can indulge in some of Beijing’s best tapas and paella. You’ll be dreaming of the jamon iberico for months after.
Great Leap Brewing
We love a stylish rooftop bar just as much as a casual hangout and Great Leap Brewing is the perfect place for just this. Boasting the title of the first craft brewery in Beijing, this simple but atmospheric bar is loved by both tourists and locals alike meaning you can rest assured you’re getting the full, local experience while drinking Beijing’s best beer. Every drink here is proudly infused with traditional chinese ingredients and boasts flavours and aromas unique to The Middle Kingdom, giving you probably one of the most unique beer experiences you’ll ever have. This will be the one you tell your friends about back home!
According to recent reports, wine imports in China have increased by a whopping 80 percent from 2013 to 2018 which means one thing: you can benefit from the new, trendy wine bars popping up all over Beijing and The Merchants is one of them.
