As Confucius said (or, at least, somebody very wise), you’ve got to start somewhere – and when you’re creating your China holiday with Meraki Travel, you start with a base itinerary. This base is where you get down to business. It includes the ‘You’d be mad to miss’ destinations in each region – you know, those places you simply must visit otherwise you’ll be kicking yourself once you get back.
Once you’ve got to grips with our China Classic base itinerary, you can then tailor it to your exact requirements. Fancy adding new locations to your trip? Choose Chengdu for the pandas, or Hong Kong for some iconic city slick. And if you change your mind – no worries. Just click to remove them from your China travel itinerary until you’ve got it right.
If things are happening too fast, don’t worry - you can slow it down by changing the pace of your trip. If 8 days isn’t enough, why not add more nights in the places that grab you most and extend your China itinerary to 2 weeks? You can even choose accommodation options to suit your personal style (such as something with a bit more character) or your budget (go luxury for that blowout). Plus, you can add experiences to your whole trip based on your interests. Whether you’re a foodie, can’t sit still or want to spend a bit more time learning the local ways, we’ve got it covered. Just choose the Foodie Experience pack, Active pack, Once in a Lifetime pack and / or Cultural pack when you’re planning your holiday.
Once you’re happy with your trip, all you need to do is enter your dates, select your flights and then you can book up the whole thing – remember to book that annual leave!
If all that sounds like too many decisions in one session – choices, choices! – then just save your trip at any point and come back to it later. You can even create multiple trips to share with your significant other, so you can agree on the one that works for both of you. Simple really. And a lot of fun.

You might think Classic means safe. Or boring. But our Classic itinerary is anything but. To us, Classic means the best bits. All those highlights that you simply cannot miss.
This base package, gives you eight nights to soak in the storied beauty and rich culture of China, but can be extended to nine if you go for the ‘relaxed’ pace option (this adds on an extra night in Beijing). If you like your comfort, you're in luck – all the hotels are three star, with the option of upgrading in the itinerary builder if you want a bit more luxury.
What’s more, the Classic trip includes all the must-see experiences, like a trip to the Great Wall of China and the chance to meet Xian’s Terracotta Army. Plus, to make this truly the trip of a lifetime, you can add on extras, including a ‘Once in a Lifetime’ private, night time cruise down Shanghai’s Huangpu River for the ultimate way to admire the city’s skyline, or – for a real taste of the country – you could opt for a ‘Foodie’ pack, which will see you whizzing round Beijing’s labyrinth-like Hutongs on a tuk tuk tour of its best authentic eateries.
All transport is covered, too; you get a private car and driver to escort you to all these locations. But if you want to take your trip that little bit further – and why wouldn’t you? – you can add Guilin, Lijiang, Chengdu and Hong Kong to your list. What’s not to love?
