The best attractions & experiences in Jasper

The soaring mountains and rolling valleys of Jasper National Park offer endless opportunities for outdoor adventures. The hiking and mountain biking trails will keep thrill-seekers happy, while the picturesque picnic spots and gentle lakeside walks are ideal for those who want to take it easy. Some of the most scenic spots can be found along Maligne Lake Road - don’t miss the chance to stop off and enjoy a leisurely canoe ride or boat tour at Maligne Lake. The Icefields Parkway, which winds through Jasper and Banff National Parks, is one of the world’s most picturesque drives with epic mountain vistas, ancient glaciers, roaring waterfalls and glassy lakes dotted along the route. If you’re looking for that perfect Instagram picture, you’ll have plenty of photogenic backdrops to choose from here.

Come to see some spectacular wildlife? Join us on a Wildlife Discovery Tour, included in the Wildlife experience pack. You won’t be disappointed, that’s for sure. Maligne Valley offers stunning landscapes brimming with unique flora and fauna. Here, you can marvel at the longest lake in Canada and spot elk, moose, eagles and bears in their natural habitat. Then there’s Maligne Canyon - one of the park’s most incredible natural wonders. Reaching depths of 50 metres, it’s the deepest canyon in the park and offers some breathtaking views of the sheer limestone cliffs and crashing waterfalls from its bridges.

After all that exercise, you’ll no doubt be in need of some R&R. Spend a few hours soothing your tired muscles in Miette Hot Springs while enjoying views of Fiddle River Valley. Come evening, head to the quaint town of Jasper to watch the sunset behind the mountains and dine on delicious local cuisine.

Jasper is also the starting point for the Rocky Mountaineer. If this luxurious train journey through the Rockies isn't already on your bucket list, it really should be! Select the Western Canada Rocky Mountaineer as your base itinerary and this once in a lifetime journey will automatically be part of your trip.

To create a tailor-made itinerary that suits your interests, you can add Experience packs. For example, the Wildlife Discovery Tour can be found in the ‘Wildlife’ pack. Check out our itinerary builder to see what other activities you can do.
