Tailor Made Holidays to Banff

Soaring mountains vie for attention with gigantic glaciers, crashing waterfalls are offset by tranquil lakes and forest-clad valleys teem with fantastic flora and fauna. When it comes to picturesque scenery with the added wow-factor, Banff holidays hit the mark.

Established in 1885, Banff is the third oldest national park in the world and Canada’s first.  It was discovered by railway workers who came across some hot springs, which are now one of the most popular attractions in the area. The park is part of the Canadian Rocky Mountain UNESCO World Heritage site and attracts millions of visitors every year for its untamed natural beauty and awe-inspiring views.

Banff Town - which sits 1,400 metres above sea level - is a treasure trove of boutique shops, chic eateries and lively bars. This bustling commercial hub might seem at odds with the park’s unspoilt landscapes, but Mother Nature is never far away. In fact, you’re constantly reminded of her existence with the dramatic mountainous backdrop. From the town, outdoor activities are readily available, including trips to the Cave and Basin National Historic Site and gondola rides up into the mountains. Another of the park’s most popular attractions is Lake Louise, and although it can become busy with tourists, the amazing scenery makes putting up with the crowds worthwhile.

If you want to explore the road less travelled, there are plenty of pristine walking trails and tranquil spots where you can spend some one-on-one time with nature. And as well as the seemingly endless mountain, river, forest and glacier scenery, Banff tours offer some great wildlife viewing opportunities. Moose, elk and deer can be seen grazing in the valleys and meadows, while predators such as foxes, wolves, lynx and bears roam the forests.

Whether it’s a leisurely lakeside stroll, an action-packed bike ride through the woods or simply gazing upon a spectacular view, you can’t help but feel awe-struck by the sheer scale and beauty of Banff. And the longer you spend here, the more wonders you’ll discover. It really is the gift that keeps on giving.

If you want to visit Banff National Park, select the Western Canada option as your base itinerary. You can then tailor your trip by hand-selecting various other experiences and destinations. Head over to our itinerary builder to get started.
